Duncanville’s long range plan “Main Street Vision” is focused on redevelopment of its central core to support alternative modes of transportation including a planned DART light rail line. This infill development includes several “live-work” units as part of the 31 townhouses which range in size from 900 to 1,500 square feet along with a private garden and water feature. The development is the second, new, infill component in Duncanville’s Main Street Corridor. The goal of the project was to introduce for sale housing to compliment the adjacent and recently completed mixed use apartment and retail development. The City supported the development through street and utility construction, providing federal grant funds and closely coordinating with the private developer. The units are arranged to establish an urban street wall promoting walking and increasing density for the establishment of planned mass transit facilities.
