Urban Plan for Faculty and Student Housing with Retail, University of Texas at Arlington, Arlington, Texas.

As a potential “gateway” into downtown Arlington, the intersection of Cooper and Abram streets are crucial to establishing an identity to the district. The intersection is currently anchored by parking lots on all four corners. The goal of this conceptual urban plan was to establish an urban presence and set a precedent for future development for the remaining corners. The site comprises approximately 6.5 acres and is planned to begin the transformation of the intersection into an urban portal to downtown Arlington and to the University of Texas campus. A 135 bed, four story mixed use building is the focal point of the site and is adjacent to the historic, former Arlington High School campus. The original 1930 era buildings are planned for redevelopment as faculty housing. The East side of the site is planned for student housing and the center of the site would be utilized for a courtyard, pool and parking structure.
