Urban Plan for Student Housing and Retail Development, Texas A&M University at Commerce, Texas.

The project included planning an 8 acre development adjacent to the university campus. The district was planned to be a pedestrian oriented neighborhood with mixed use residential and retail buildings around the perimeter of the district and 4 story student housing at the interior. The existing, early nineteenth century street grid was retained and restricted to pedestrian access only at the interior of the complex. At existing street intersections plazas were planned as gathering places and iconographic landmarks. Residential and mixed use structures hugged existing streets and defined urban the setting. Parking structures were concealed behind the buildings and accessed at controlled points from the major perimeter streets. The site is positioned to serve as a link between downtown and the campus.
